AUDI R18 e-tron quattro成為第一輛於美國Sebring賽道奪冠的Hybrid賽車

近年來在所謂耐力賽事當中，AUDI始終擁有相當強大的競爭力，不但採用柴油動力的R18 ultra具備驚人的實力，2012年AUDI進一步推出以V6 TDI渦輪柴油引擎搭配Hybrid系統的R18 e-tron quattro之後，兩輛Hybrid賽車便馬上以包辦冠亞軍的姿態在:Le Mans 24小時賽事當中大獲全勝；而在今年的FIA WEC系列賽事當中，R18 e-tron quattro不但在美國初登場，更馬上創下歷史紀錄。

在先前於美國佛羅里達Sebring賽道所舉辦的12小時耐力賽當中，AUDI R18 e-tron quattro再度包辦了冠亞軍的頭銜，展現出當今耐力賽事霸主的氣勢；雖然車手們表示比賽當中的競爭異常激烈，但這僅限於第一與第二兩輛R18 e-tron quattro之間，兩輛車在比賽當中互換領先的情況一共出現了20次之多，而最後是由Marcel Fassler、Oliver Jarvis以及Benoit Treluyer三位車手所駕駛的1號車拿下勝利。
當然在場不是只有AUDI R18 e-tron quattro想要成為第一輛在美國Sebring賽道的Hybrid賽車，TOYOTA廠隊同樣派出TS030 Hybrid參賽，不過最後仍是鎩羽而歸；而名列第三的Rebellion Racing，也落後第一名的R18 e-tron quattro達五圈之多。
AUDI R18 e-tron quattro搭載了效率極佳的120度夾角設計3.7L V6 TDI柴油渦輪增壓引擎，並具備獨有的Hybrid系統；首先V6 TDI柴油渦輪增壓引擎以510hp的最大馬力來驅動後輪，前輪的部份則是配置了類似F1的KERS動能回收系統，除了在煞車時能夠進行能量回收，當車輛在時速120km/h以上進行再加速時，則是能透過前軸的飛輪進行動力傳輸，藉此達成四輪驅動的目的，AUDI將這項技術稱為e-tron quattro。
